Lyndsey Scott is graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts.
And she just so happens to be a Victoria Secret model.
A Talented Computer Coder
Scott has a dual major in theater and computer science. But after her studies, she decided to move to New York City to pursue a career in acting and modeling. The talented beauty managed to land major roles and even made her debut on the Victoria Secret catwalk.
But when her acting work went quiet, she fell back on her degree. The 34-year-old currently works as freelance coding engineer.
An account on Instagram called @coding.engineer praised Lyndsey on her incredible success. But it wasn’t long before cruel trolls laughed at the idea that the beautiful model could also be intelligent enough to code.
A thread on Reddit titled: “Apparently, it’s impossible for women to be smart and beautiful at the same time” mocked Scott.
One person wrote: “Well, printing hello world these days is considered coding.”
Computer coding is the primary method for allowing intercommunication between humans and machines.
Programmers Can Come In All Shape And Sizes
But Lyndsey, who currently works as a freelance iOS Software Engineering clapped back.
Per Instagram she posted: “Looking at these comments I wonder why 41 per cent of women in technical careers drop out because of a hostile work environment #gofigure.”
“Just stating facts in the hope I’ll convince at least one negative commenter that programmers can come in all shapes, sizes, genders, races, etc. so they’ll think twice before doubting other women and girls they encounter in tech,’ she added.
According to Forbes, only 24 per cent of women make up the computer tech industry – with numbers declining rapidly.
