Beyoncé and JAY-Z shocked music lovers last week with their surprise album, Everything Is Love. The long-awaited joint album from the power couple debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart this week. The Carters were edged out this week by band 5 Seconds of Summer, whose third studio album Youngblood took the No. 1 spot. Despite being released on a Saturday afternoon as a TIDAL exclusive last weekend, Everything Is Love moved 123,000 (70,000 in traditional album sales). The project did not become available on iTunes and all streaming platforms until the following Monday (Jun. 18).
While the Hip-Hop community continues to mourn the death of XXXTentacion, his ? album rose to No. 3 on Billboard this week with 94,000 units. The project previously hit No. 1 on the chart during its debut week, back in late March. Nas’ first album in six years, NASIR, lands at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The Kanye West executive-produced opus is Nas’ 12th Top 10 album, moving 77,000 units opening week (49,000 traditional album sales).
